My favorite read so far is Separate Rooms by Pier Vittorio Tondelli. First published in 1989, shortly before the author’s untimely death, the novel has been rereleased in hardcover in anticipation of its release as major film adaptation by film director Luca Guadagnino. The book is gorgeous and heartbreaking; it’s a story that sheds light on who we are, in relation to someone we love, both together and apart, in life and in death.
